When I had my first son, I did what most career women do—I went back to my desk job after maternity leave, dropping my son off at daycare and going about my days catering to my unappreciative boss, just to get a paycheck to pay for the expenses of working: daycare, travel expenses, and office clothes. It seemed counter-intuitive.
